Verona
Benvenuto a Verona - Romeo and Juliet's hometown
Tower

This tower belonged to the Duke, near where Giulietta (Juliet) lived.

Well

To secure your relationship, put a lock on this well.

Juliet's

OK, this is the genuine fake Juliet Capulet (Maria in "Westside Story") courtyard and balcony. The place actually belonged to historic family (Cappelli). You are supposed to rub Juliet's breast for good luck.

Arena

Other major site (more interesting) are Roman ruins. Third biggest surviving arena, right next to Piazza Bra (means 'field' in Veronese).

Arena

The Roman arena is one side of Piazza Bra.

Students

Italian students have to take field trips, too.

Stadium

Large stadium, still used for opera!?

Stadium

Workers are preparing the stadium for opera festival. This place is 2,000 years old and the plumbing still works. Totally amazing.

Church

Church, where I ate lunch.

Piazza Erbe

Piazza Erbe, near casa di Giuletta

Piazza Bra

Piazza Bra again; it's large.

Piazza Bra

Piazza Bra one more time.

Vendors
Vendors and large numbers of German and British tourists (and Phil) at Piazza Erbe.
Edicolo
Mom and daughter, both stylish (this is Italy) at the edicolo or tabacheria (newspaper stand), where you mainly get lottery and bus tickets.
Castelvecchio
This is Castelvecchio. Old castle. Duh.
Bridge
Bridge from Castelvecchio (not as old as arena)
City
View of city, old Roman Bridge, from Roman Theatre across river
Houses
Nice houses along River Adige; last photo taken from old stone bridge. Actually, bridge was bombed during WWII and was rebuilt.
River
Notice that Jon came over for the day. You can see him with a couple of other kayakers in picture taken from stone bridge.
