Regional Development

Washington is the most export reliant state in the country.  Many development projects creating new products and jobs have an outward component.  Thus regional development is intertwined with the global economy.

International Trade

Andrew Cassey is a developmental economist with expertise in international trade policy at the state and regional level.  He is new faculty at Washington State University as of August 2008.  His current research includes the efficacy of state export promotion programs such as the location of overseas offices and trade missions.  Other work studies the factors and policies affecting export choices and patterns.

In addition to his scholarly work, Dr. Cassey has experience in economics teaching and educational programs.
